| Trade unions respond to Jaguar job cuts
The decision of the Ford Motor Company to make 1,100 redundancies at the Coventry plant of its Jaguar subsidiary has been met with anger from union leaders. Unions have hinted that strikes may take place at all three Jaguar factories in the UK, unless the decision is reversed.
The TGWU appear to be suggesting that there is also the possibility of strike action taking place at Ford plants in the UK. Such action, aimed at the firm's parent company, has caused some to raise the spectre of anti-secondary action legislation, although the unions involved appear to believe that they are on steady ground.
Yesterday we broke the news that Ford Europe had announced that job losses were to occur - we'll obviously keep you updated on future developments.
